Kris Velkovski’s LC Torana has run a new personal best in full street trim. The car is powered by a JPC Nissan RB30 SOHC turbo combination pushing around 365kW to the wheels on 98 unleaded. In full street trim with a full exhaust and street radial tyres Kris ran 9.58 at 141mph.The car has gone as quick as 9.21 at 149mph many years ago on slicks and race fuel and Kris will be looking to better this soon.
Something a little bit different to the norm is this Nissan DOHC 32-valve V8 (VK56). The engine is designed to be raced in off-road racing. At 5.6L or 338ci in the old money, the all alloy Nissan sure likes to rev and sounds fantastic.
Making 418kW @ 7900rpm to the rear wheels, Shaun’s VL turbo runs on E85 ethanol and more impressively still retains a high-flowed upgrade of the factory Garrett T3/0.63 turbo by JPC.
The engine is still the OEM Nissan RB30 SOHC. This car has previously run into the 9s over the quarter mile using the same turbo.
We recently had the opportunity to fine tune Brett Youlden’s BA Falcon V8 Supercar ride car. The 600hp Falcon is available for a first hand drive experience and can take two passengers to speeds in excess of 300kph.
